"No one should have any doubts about the integrity and honesty of Steve. We found an issue in the house we recently purchased and called Steve to inspect the problem. Steve was incredibly informative, but I knew this was probably going cost a lot of money to resolve. We took on board what Steve said and we tried to do things that would help alleviate the issue. Steve gave us a quote for the works that were needed to remedy the problem completely. We could not start right away because we needed other electrical works to be done before we could deal with the underlying problem. This was going to take some time, particularly moving the electric meter outside before any work could start. The advice that Steve gave helped us remain proactive, and we were able to do some additional work to minimise the issue before Steve came to start the works required. To be fair, I kept Steve updated, and he walked us through this. The day the work was supposed to start Steve was so impressed by what we had already done to mitigate the issue; Steve was honest enough to say the level of work that we had originally agreed was no longer necessary. We are talking about several thousands of pounds of work that he just wrote off because we had done what he had advised whilst we waited for the work to start. Steve said we now only need to do a damp proof course, fit a vent to allow better airflow and then monitor for a few months to see if we have dealt with the underlying issue. Our final bill was several thousand pounds below the original agreed price. If he said to me the works needed to be done, I would never have questioned and allowed him to continue, but he said the level of work we agreed was no longer needed. You do not find tradesmen like Steve anymore. He could have done the full job and charged us for it, but felt it was not necessary and only charged us a fraction of the original price agreed for the works he felt were needed. What an honest and genuine person. A rare quality. Pure class."
